Cultures around the world believe in reincarnation, the idea that we have been on this planet before. The idea is empowering. It allows us to accept our mistakes, knowing that we will have other chances to get it right. It also allows us to learn from the past, not just the one we are living now but the many we have lived in other lives. Even if you’re culture is not made up of believers, many people learn interesting things when they explore their past lives. Many methods are useful for this process.
One way to remember your own previous life is to look closely at your current one. If you do not keep a journal, begin doing so. Even the most meaningless events in your life might gain significance through repetition. If you already keep a journal, then take a look at it. Look for areas where you felt strong emotions. Emotions are the strongest link to our own past. Pick through your experiences and put them together. Over time, patterns will begin to emerge.
You can also make a lists of the things that are important to you, the things you strongly like or dislike. They can be something as simple as food or as complex as your feelings about your parents and the way you were raised. Nothing is too mundane just so long as it has meaning for you, that it has strong emotional significance in your life. Think about the things you are good at, or the things you wished you could improve or even your perfect fantasy self. Then write them down.
