Use Exercise To Fight Childhood Obesity

These days, even kids seem too busy. They have homework, after school activities and friends that they like to hang out with. Parents days are jammed as well. When we do get to come together, family time is important. To ensure that you get family time each day let that time do double duty.

If you can somehow use your together time to bond with your family and get exercise too you’re really getting a double benefit out of it. Everybody gets active and it’s a lot more fun than just watching TV together.

When you get your exercise with your family you’re turning your daily exercise obligation into something much more enjoyable. Working out alone can seem so tedious because you don’t get the motivation and accountability that you get with a group. Exercising with your family takes what used to be a chore and turns it into having fun together.

Family fitness time has many benefits:

1. Everyone participates and gains better fitness.

2. You get more out of it because you challenge each other

3. You all start to think about eating well too.

4. It’s now a regular part of your schedule.

Let each person can pick an exercise they love to do and introduce it to the group. On different days, let someone else lead your workout session. Each person stays involved and everyone benefits from the workout.

Don’t forget to mix it up with the exercises. Include some weight training and set up a place in the house to do it. You don’t need a lot of space or equipment. A few dumbbells are inexpensive and you can come up with a lot of different exercises to use them.

When you decide to make family exercise a regular part of your day you’re creating a positive bonding experience with your children and you’re teaching them that fitness is a fun thing to do. You’ll all be healthier and happier and you’ll be setting a pattern for your childrens successful future.
